Itinerary
We begin our trip with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 6:00 AM. Our transportation will take you through the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the Vilcabamba and Vilcanota peaks. After a 2-hour drive, we will stop in Ollantaytambo for an included breakfast, stretch our legs, and use the facilities.
We will continue to the highest point of the route, the Abra Málaga pass (4,350 meters above sea level). Here, you will receive all the necessary equipment and a briefing before beginning an exciting 65 km (3 to 4 hours) bicycle descent. This tour will take you from the cold of the Andes to the warm climate of the jungle. We will stop at the archaeological site of Huamanmarca to have lunch and explore its ruins. Then, we will return to the vehicle to continue towards Santa María. In the afternoon, an exciting river rafting adventure awaits you, lasting 1 to 1.5 hours. We will spend the night in a local hotel in Santa María, and we will have dinner at a restaurant in town.
We start the day with breakfast at 6:00 AM. Today is one of the most notable days of the adventure. We will begin a 22 km walk (7 to 8 hours). The first 45 minutes are on the road, and then we will enter an authentic Inca Trail that connected Machu Picchu with the last Inca capital. Along the trail, you will be amazed by banana, coca and coffee plantations.
We will stop in the picturesque town of Quellomayo for a local lunch and a short rest. We will continue the walk for 3.5 hours to the revitalizing hot springs of Cocalmayo. You will have a couple of hours to relax in these natural pools. Finally, we will walk 45 more minutes to reach Santa Teresa, where we will stay in a hotel and enjoy dinner.
After a breakfast at 6:30 AM, we will prepare for a day full of adrenaline. Around 8:00 AM, a zip line company will pick us up for an exciting 2-hour adventure, crossing four zip lines and a suspension bridge.
Then, we will take a short drive to Hidroeléctrica to enjoy a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, we will begin a 10 km panoramic walk (approximately 3 to 3.5 hours) along the train tracks until we reach Aguas Calientes, the base town of Machu Picchu. Once at the hotel, you will check in and have time to rest before having dinner at a local restaurant at 7:00 PM. We will spend the night in a hotel, ready to explore Machu Picchu the next day.
The most anticipated day begins early with breakfast at 4:00 AM. At 4:30 AM, we will begin a 1.5-hour walk to the entrance of Machu Picchu, which includes 30 minutes of flat terrain and an hour of ascent. You can also take a bus (additional cost of $12 USD) to go up. The goal is to arrive at the entrance for the visit at 6:00 AM.
Once inside, your professional guide will take you on a 2.5-hour tour of the main points of the citadel. Afterwards, you will have 30 minutes of free time to explore on your own, with a maximum stay time of 3 hours. If you booked in advance, you will be able to access the Waynapicchu mountains or Machu Picchu Mountain.
For the return to Cusco, we offer you two options:
Train option: Faster and more comfortable, you return to Aguas Calientes (walking or by bus), take the train to Ollantaytambo, and from there a transport takes you to Cusco, arriving around 6:30 PM.
Option by car: Involves a 3-hour walk from Machu Picchu to Hidroeléctrica to take a 6-hour transportation back to Cusco, arriving around 10:00 PM. This option is cheaper but longer.
