After a 1 hour and 45 minute trip to the Ollantaytambo station, you will board the train to Km 104, the starting point of the walk. Here you will meet your guide and, after showing your permits, you will begin the ascent. The hike will take you on a 3-hour steady climb (from 2000m to 2700m), to the impressive site of Wiñaywayna, where you will explore the Inca ruins and enjoy a packed lunch. You will continue for 2 hours to Intipunku (Puerta del Sol) to admire the first and spectacular view of Machu Picchu. Finally, you'll descend 45 minutes to the main site to take iconic photos and receive a brief introduction from your guide. In the evening, you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you will check into your hotel and enjoy a special dinner at a local restaurant.
